When did you start using City Express Travel?
I started using City Express Travel in 2006 on the recommendation of members at Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND. They were using your services for their mission trips to Honduras. Traveling with a group of 12-15 adults can be interesting- especially when they are excited, nervous & tired. The group ticket eases the stress of keeping the group together and provides us with a safe, smooth, orderly, seamless check-in process. Sitting together as a team during our flights is another gift promoting safety, mutual support and sharing.
What was the reason you chose City Express Travel?
As coordinator for the Haiti mission teams from our church & community, flexibility in travel arrangements is essential. Andy Kumar and his team blessed us with this flexibility in a professional, trustworthy, reliable & respectful manner. I have seen their heart for missions. They understand the unique process required to put a team together. I have felt their powerful prayers during our journey’s- a true blessing. Recruitment is a process that allows the call of God to move in potential team member’s lives. Finalizing the team can be a challenge and frequently changes as time off work and finances are considered. We also need time for fundraising events to help pay costs for our mission trip. City Express Travel allows us to book a group ticket early to firm up the best itinerary requiring a deposit and number of seats only. What an amazing gift!! Flexibility continues allowing final number of seats confirmed about a month prior to deadline for final payment & names for each seat. For our teams this deadline has been around 6 weeks before we leave. Another amazing gift!!!
How has City Express Travel served you? January 12, 2010 our mission team was in Pignon, Haiti when the historic earthquake occurred. Pignon is 85 miles north of Port au Prince. We felt the ground shake but our environment was safe. It quickly became clear that we would need to leave Haiti early and by an alternative route. We were blessed to have access to satellite internet & electricity about four hours each day. I contacted Rita by e-mail and she immediately began working with Andy on alternative travel arrangements out of the neighboring country, Dominican Republic. It was comforting and empowering in a time of great fear & uncertainty to trust that I had reliable friends working on our behalf. They replied quickly & asked the right questions to our host to determine the best exit strategy. This exit was challenging traveling in a school bus over washed out dirt roads- Highway 3 to Cap Haitian. It took 6 hours to drive the 100 mile route to the Dominican border. UFF DA! After crossing the border we had another 6 hour bus ride to get to the designated airport. American Airlines was holding the plane for us when we arrived 45 minutes before the plane was scheduled to leave. AMAZING!!!! It was the quickest check in I had ever seen. We truly felt the hand of God leading us on our journey home and are eternally grateful to our host Caleb, Andy Kumar & Rita at City Express Travel for our safe journey home.
